perfmediumPocklington based Post Haste Printers have recently started creasing and perforating their print in-house since discovering Perf Offset; a product that is capable of performing the operations during the printing process.

“We had tried a few perforation products in the past, but we have never achieved the results we were looking for. This led us to outsource our creasing and perforating” says Director of Post Haste, Mark Crabtree. “Most products simply take too long for us to be able to use. Since we began using Perf Offset and doing it ourselves we have found that we are able to print, perforate or crease in one pass, which in turn is giving our customers faster delivery dates. We are now able to meet tighter deadlines”.

“Our supplier, BFS Pressroom Solutions, came in to demonstrate the product initially. It was incredibly easy to use and now make-readies take under 5 minutes. This has helped us no end in getting jobs out the door as quickly as possible”.

“We have found no loss of quality since we began in-house perforation; the perf and creaser are accurate when applied to the sheet so you know exactly where you are placing it. You obtain a flat sheet with no waviness, a good solid perforation and best of all you do not damage your blanket”.

The perforation product that Post Haste are using is the Spanish manufactured Perf Offset, which is an innovative system for inline finishing on Litho presses. It has the ability to cut, crease or perforate during the printing process. Known for its simplicity, Perf Offset can be set up in under 5 minutes to cut downtime and improve productivity.

“I would recommend Perf Offset to any small or medium sized printers who print NCR, raffle tickets or forms” explained Mr. Crabtree.

Perf Offset is a 2 part system, comprised of 2 self-adhesive strips.  The first strip is the perforating, creasing or cutting rule which is affixed to the impression cylinder. The second part is an anvil strip which is attached to the blanket ensuring that no damage to the blanket occurs. It is this unique system that differentiates Perf Offset from standard litho perf products, as there is no need for special perforation blankets. The adhesive used on the strips can withstand the high temperature conditions encountered during the process and will easily stay fixed throughout.

The product can be used on a variety of paper sizes from very thin paper to thick card and can be placed anywhere required (in vertical, horizontal and diagonal lines).

Perf Offset is a great alternative to larger, more complex systems for this application, most of which are extremely expensive for the printer. With Perf Offset there is no outlay or special equipment necessary, meaning there is no high expenditure involved.

Post Haste purchased Perf Offset from their supplier BFS Pressroom Solutions Ltd, a family run company, established in 1986, manufacturing and distributing specialist pressroom consumables designed to last longer and save printers’ money through improved productivity.
