Cylinder brushes with their fibre-spraying effect generate the finest of fogs in dampening units. They are also used in fully-automatic offset blanket washing units. This latter application was only made possible by using special measuring procedures that can monitor the overall diameter of the brush rollers down to hundredths of a centimeter, excluding surface damage or side-slipping of the printing blanket.
Brush strips are used as guide elements for paper either on web or sheet format. The selection of flexible body materials enables them to be pressed or guided by cylinders and on press folders by rows of bristles angled in a longitudinal direction, working as a run-back safety device, preventing paper from slipping.
Antistatic brushes are indispensable for modern printing presses as they safely conduct troublesome electrostatic charges. Cylinder brushes with antistatic bristle material can perform a similar function by preventing the charges occurring in the first place.
